Thank you for your warm support over the last couple of years for the Local Church Global Mission (LCGM) initiative. As you’re aware the big aim of LCGM is to help churches to be active in identifying, training, sending & supporting workers for cross cultural mission.
Why such a strong emphasis on the local church? It has been our conviction that not only is the local church the primary sending agency, but that people’s gifting for such ministry is best identified and developed in the context of the local church. It has therefore been a joy to see church leaders and members coming together to be equipped through God’s word for the vital task of global missions through the LCGM conferences which began in 2014.
These aims have been enriched immensely by our partnership with many mission agencies who share these same principles and whose active support of the local church in the missionary task is longstanding. Our hosts for the 2015 conference Oak Hill College, London, also share our convictions on these issues. Their training for many years has been focussed on equipping people for ministry & their commitment to overseas mission through the local church is well proven.
It is therefore with great delight that we announce an exciting development in the work of LCGM through a new partnership with Oak Hill College. The annual LCGM conference will now become ‘a ministry of Oak Hill College,’ beginning with our next event on Saturday 25th Feb, 2017. The conference will be entitled ‘The Task: The Local Church & Global Mission’. We are delighted that Steve Timmis, Executive Director at Acts 29 will be our speaker. Please do save the date!
The work will continue to be led by Michael Prest (UFM, SE Asia & Oak Hill alumnus) & Phil Tinker (leader, The Globe Church, London & Oak Hill student), with the addition of Oak Hill Missions Tutor, Dave Baldwin. We will be in touch again soon with more information, but until then, we would love you to pray that this developing work might be used by Him as he goes on raising up workers for the harvest fields of the world. With every blessing,
Dave Baldwin, Michael Prest & Phil Tinker.
